Treat tooth loss with a bridge and crowns in Manchester Center.A dental bridge is a common method used to replace missing teeth because the device is convenient and affordable. More than 15 million people in the United States have chosen this device to resolve one or more lost teeth. One reason the device is widely preferred is due to the fact it is effective and only requires two short procedures to complete. Dr. Jonathan Mason offers bridges and crowns in Manchester Center as a restorative dentist.

What is a Crown and Bridge?

A crown and bridge is a prosthetic device used to replace missing teeth. Essentially, prosthetic teeth are attached to a metal framework to bridge the gap from one or more missing teeth. The device is then anchored in place to the adjacent teeth using custom-made dental crowns, similar to those used to cover a damaged tooth. With the device in place, the prosthetic teeth will fill the space where natural teeth once stood.

What are the Benefits to a Dental Bridge?

After you have lost a tooth, you suffer from decreased oral functions as each tooth in the mouth plays a vital role to ensure proper oral functions. In addition, a missing tooth often causes damage to your confidence as you no longer have a complete smile. If you leave the missing tooth untreated, your remaining natural teeth are at risk for falling out.

Once a tooth is lost, your bone density starts to deteriorate. As time progresses, your natural teeth will no longer have adequate support, causing them to shift, become loose, and eventually fall out. A bridge provides your natural teeth with added support to help keep them in place. With a dental bridge, you will restore oral functions and protect your natural teeth while gaining a confident smile.

What is Involved with the Procedure?

To receive a crown and bridge device, you will have your teeth prepared to ensure the dental crowns fit your teeth correctly. Next, Dr. Mason will take 3D digital impressions of your bite. Using this advancement in technology instead of traditional molds and impressions, Dr. Mason will have detailed images within seconds to begin creating the prosthetic device. While you wait for your custom-made crowns and bridge to be made, Dr. Mason will attach a temporary crowns and a bridge. Once your new device is ready, you will come in for your second and final appointment to have the permanent bridge placed.
